Drone Light Show Announced for New Year’s Eve Celebration in Punta del Este

Punta del Este is preparing to close out 2025 with a stunning aerial spectacle that promises a high-tech start to the New Year. On the night of December 31, 2025, the city will host the “Lumasky Drone Show” along the Rambla Claudio Williman (between paradas 4 and 5), bringing together advanced drone technology and artistic design for a memorable celebration.

Event Highlights

  • When: Night of December 31, 2025 into January 1, 2026. Activities run from around 21:45 (9:45 PM) until 01:00 (1:00 AM).
  • Main Show Timing: The central performance is scheduled between 23:30 (11:30 PM) and 00:30 (12:30 AM) — spanning midnight as Punta del Este welcomes the New Year.
  • Drone Display: During the main show, hundreds of drones will be synchronized to form luminous images and shapes in the sky. According to reports, more than 400 drones will participate, creating figures visible from several kilometers away and stretching up to 300 meters in scale.
  • Visual Technology: Each drone is equipped with high-power LED lighting, capable of displaying millions of colors and generating a vivid, dynamic visual experience.

Program Schedule

According to local coverage:

  • Preliminary Flights: Earlier in the evening — beginning around 22:00 (10:00 PM) — there will be a preliminary drone flight using up to 20 drones to warm up the performance.
  • Main Performance: The show reaches its peak between 23:30 and 00:30, during which up to 500 drones will take to the sky in the central display. The full performance runs for about 12–13 minutes, with intricate choreography and large-scale aerial formations.

Preparation and Safety Flights

Ahead of the New Year’s Eve event, nighttime test flights will take place from December 27 to December 30 (between 21:00 and 03:00), allowing the team to refine the choreography and ensure the safety of the event. These tests will progressively include larger groups of drones, increasing up to 500 on the final nights.

Organizers and Support

The show is organized by Lumasky, an international firm with experience in drone-based performances. This marks a return for the company after a similar event in Punta del Este last year. The project also has the support of the Intendencia Departamental de Maldonado and is presented under the theme “Para Seguir Adelante.”
